Stationary test bed that yields accurate results while imposing essentially no risk to personnel
Measurements:
100 ft long x 14 ft wide
Payload Lift:
Up to 700 tons
How it Works:
With the vehicle tethered to it, the table begins its tilt. As it continues to tilt at a very slow rate, test engineers watch from alongside, waiting for one of the vehicle's far corners to begin to lift. The moment a wheel or track leaves the table, an observer signals, the tilting is stopped, and the angle is noted. With this information in hand, analysts can calculate precisely how fast the vehicle can safely take a turn. The Tilt Table can simulate road banks as steep as 40 degrees. It is tilted by six hydraulic cylinders, each 10 inches in diameter.
